Our Pond

One of the reasons we chose to live here is the big pond in our backyard. While some would see this as a mosquito-breeding, algae-growing nuisance, we love it & all the critters it brings. There is nothing better than falling asleep to the chirping of frogs (although a certain husband would say that's a matter of opinion). So, with more snow in the forecast, I would like to pay tribute to a few of the many critters who have visited our pond, and dream of the ice melting again one day...someday...maybe.

baby deer
cool looking ducks with fan heads (forget what they're called)

wild turkeys!

our beloved 3-legged deer

teeny baby turtles

Go away Mr. Snowman

The weather anchor says we're getting 2-4 inches of snow tonight. Having lived my whole life in the frozen tundra this doesn't surprise me, but it doesn't make me happy either. The kids are on spring break & it's Easter in 2 days for pete's sake!! (What does "for pete's sake" mean anyway? Anyone?) I suppose I can try to have a good attitude & enjoy the prettiness of it. Maybe build one last snowman. Maybe this snow will buy me some more time until shorts season! Hey - there is a silver lining!

Happy Easter!!

Jenna loves to decorate our house with homemade creations whenever a holiday is near. Today after school, she got to work on this year's Easter decorations. She brought me this wonderful chickie masterpiece & asked me if I'd like to put it on my blog (CUTE!!). So, here's wishing you all an early Happy Easter from Jenna and the rest of us!!

I'm an Auntie again!

This is my new nephew Benjamin who made his grand entrance into the world on Tuesday morning. Isn't he CUTE?!! I wish sooooo bad that I could snuggle him, but since he lives 1000 miles away, for now I'll just have to kiss his little picture & save my money for a plane ticket. Welcome Benjamin!!

Weird Dog

What I loved about Toby was his weirdness. He had more bizarre behaviors than any dog I've ever known or heard of. Although no dog can compare to the craziness of Toby, I'm happy to see that little Casey is developing some weird quirks of her own. Aren't dogs great?!!

Awww, remember this cute little face? While browsing Netflicks this week, I came across the movie "Gremlins" and nostalgic thoughts flooded over me as I remembered cute little Gizmo with his big ears & crooked smile. Sure, it was a little scary, but in a fun way right? Surely my kids would love this delightful 80's flick.

We happily watched the first half hour of Gizmo humming his little tune, immitating dog barks, and squealing "bright light!" whenever a light came on. We munched our pizza & Kendall wondered if I ever had a stuffed Gizmo toy. I began to have second thoughts when Gizmo got water spilled on him & his body began bubbling and popping out little mogwi spawn...but we watched on. The discusting, slimy mogwi cocoon things made me cringe a little (huh...didn't remember that part), but when the first evil gremlin emerged and KILLED the high school science teacher (WHAT?! I don't remember that!), and the mom grabbed a butcher knife to go confront the gremlin commotion she heard upstairs...the dvd went back into it's cozy little Netflicks envelope.

How could my memory have been that off? I guess I was in 10th grade when I watched the Gremlins & I'm pretty sure there was some funny stuff in it. I do tend to be a TAD overprotective at times....but I'm pretty sure you can turn out okay even if you never see Gremlins.
