One of the reasons we chose to live here is the big pond in our backyard. While some would see this as a mosquito-breeding, algae-growing nuisance, we love it & all the critters it brings. There is nothing better than falling asleep to the chirping of frogs (although a certain husband would say that's a matter of opinion). So, with more snow in the forecast, I would like to pay tribute to a few of the many critters who have visited our pond, and dream of the ice melting again one day...someday...maybe.

Ohmigosh - how cool is that??? Those are great pictures and I imagine that it's so much fun to see all the wildlife. (sigh) green grass - I remember it fondly. Question though. We live by a kind of swamp and we get SNAKES in the spring - ugh! Do you get a lot of snakes?
great idea 4 a post mom!! no, tami, we don't get snakes but i sure wish we did...we do get salamanders every once in a while though!
mom, why do you change your pic at the top and color scheme every day?? l
Skittles, see explanation on the main page. :)
cuz its fun?...
Oh, your pond pictures are great! What with your pond and my bird feeder -- just think! National Geographic needs us! Or, we could place a few cameras around and make our own version of Meerkat. Robin brought me episode 3 of Meerkat Manor. I didn't even know it was out yet.
Well, I like your pictures, but after the fiasco with the snow men I should ask if all those pics are from your pond? The baby deer? I recognize three legged deer :)
Yes siree, the pics are from my backyard. I'm still on a mission to capture a muskrat on film (er..pixels?)
Love the idea of a National Geographic book/documentary. "A Feeder & a Pond". We sell a book at work called "Dogs Waiting in Cars" or something like that. It's full of pics of dogs sitting in parked cars in parking lots.
