But, we did find some calmer seas and pulled off to a beachy area for some swimming, and the girls found several large & small clams. Some stinky clam shells even came home with us and are now decorating bedroom dressers. It was a fun day & reminds me that I DON'T WANT SUMMER TO END! I really don't. Three months of nice weather is not enough. School starts two weeks from tomorrow. Nooooooooooooooo!

a day on the river
Yesterday we decided to take the boat that we're "babysitting" this month for a ride down (and up) the St. Croix River. We started out with a yummy lunch on the patio of a restaurant in Stillwater, then plopped the boat in the water & off we went. The boat that we're happily babysitting is a Mastercraft water skiing boat that sits about 6 inches above the water (or so it seems anyway). Probably not an optimal vessel for river travel - especially when surrounded by yachts and miniature cruise ships. Fortunately it was a hot day, because we spent much of the ride under a steady mist of water.

I feel the same way about summer. Even though it's been freakishly busy, I'm not ready for fall. I'm trying to sit outside at night in the summer warmth and soak it all in.
Your boat trip sounds fantastic. I love the St Croix.
BTW - Snowflake did get buried last night. The service was very nice and A is healing nicely. Thanks for the kind words.
Oh, I'm so sorry about snowflake!!!
I don't want summer to end!!!!
They need to give us one more month!!
great pictures!
Looks like you all had a super fun day. Babysitting a boat and a pool. You have nice friends. We ask people to babysit a lizard and guinea pig. we are not nice friends to have.
What a fun way to end the summer! I for one am fine with summer ending...though...I have no interest in winter. Fall is so dreamy. I'm sure I would feel differently if I had to go back to school.
auntie jess! you got a picture! lovely.
