"don't ever change"

Today was yearbook day!! The much anticipated, full color, overpriced book of memories was finally here! If you haven't seen a high school yearbook recently, they really have become amazing works of photo journalism. I'm not kidding.

Anyway, on the way home from school Kendall was reading some of the things her friends had written in the back of her yearbook to me. As we all remember from 8th grade, the better the friend, the longer the sentiment. Sometimes even not-so-close friends write small novels.
As she's happily reading, I suddenly hear it. That universal phrase that bonds together all high- schoolers throughout the ages.

"Don't ever change".

If you're 13, 33, 53 or 63 your yearbook contains the words "don't ever change". I think that's kinda cool. Just like how the word "cool" is still cool. Some things don't ever change (heh heh).

I LOVE this blog entry Deb. LOVE IT! I know that I have that written many times in my yearbooks. And the funny thing is - do we really teach our kids to write things like that? I think it's just sort of ingrained in our human nature. It's like learning how to speak - we just do it.

So cute. I greatly enjoy reading your blogs. I think I'm getting to know you better than ever in doing so and we're so similar in some ways, it's crazy.

So in the words of yearbooks of today and days past - don't ever change.

..and for the record, best friends always, ALWAYS got a whole page to write on. The back cover page was the hottest ticket and oftentimes it became "saved" for someone.

and just think if none of us did ever change from the time we were 13. What kind of world would we live in? Sounds like the makings for a good teen flick...or horror movie???

13 Going On 30 was a pretty good glimpse of what that might look like. Maybe we'd actually be better off? This post made me wish I still had a yearbook around to look at. I think I burned all mine. :( Sometimes I'm irrational.
