Last weekend we spent a great 4th of July at the cabin! This was the first of TWO July 4th's we get to celebrate this year, as we'll be having the big annual bash & competitions in a couple of weeks with our favorite Goodmans. YIPEE!
We left the house bright & early on Friday to make it in time for the big parade with Grandma & Papa. We saw lots of marching bands & girls wearing crowns, but they must have outlawed candy throwing this year because the girls went home with empty baggies. I suppose someone lost an eye from a wayward jolly rancher or something. This years boat parade featured not only an Uncle Sam, but a Harry Potter themed boat as well! We're not sure what's patriotic about Harry Potter, but I suspect a mom spent a lot of money on some Halloween costumes & was determined to get her money's worth. Oddly, my new camera has a setting specifically for fireworks so I had to try it out. Kinda cool I guess. Here a few more highlights...

Oh - you guys look like you had a great time. Your "wayward Jolly Rancher" comment cracked me up. Isn't it just dumb that some parades won't allow candy throwing??? Sheesh - that was the best part of parades.
This world sometimes - I swear - there's an overload on "safety."
So I was waiting to see how your firework setting on your camera did. Where's the pic of the fireworks???
Happy 4th - so glad that it's finally hot and summerlike!!!
OHMIGOSH! I have ADD today apparently since when I went back to your page, the VERY FIRST picture on the page is of a firework.
Yikes!
Yeah, truthfully I don't think it looks much different than a picture taken without the fancy-pants setting. :)
What did you guys do for the 4th?
I'm trying to find time to get a blog up on our 4th of July. Hopefully I'll get that done today.
We went up to Lake Osakis. Dave's parents have a place up there. We did the typical lake stuff - had a pretty good time. Dave's dad is a bit....challenging sometimes. Long story for another time - but I was happy to get home. HA! But overall, it was fun. I got some golfing in, which I rarely get to do anymore and I really enjoyed that.
i miss those go-with-a-sandwich-bag-and-end-up-needing-a-dump-truck-for-all-the-candy-you-get parades...
parades are so diforent now! we used to go to the parade bringing a paperbag and the candy would go to the top! but when we whent to the forth of july parade i only got THREE peases of candy! and the boat parades they used to through alot of candy but now they dont through any! its kinda anoying but i guess it doesnt really matter that much. we do get alot of candy at halloween that lasts until next halloween!:p

Ugh, so sad to have missed all the fun. Kids, I'll throw some candy at ya when we are back. Hey, I'll even wear a tiara and wave at you first. We have a moon roof in our new car and I'll have Roy drive, I'll stand with my head and upper body out of the roof and throw candy at you. I'll even wear a sash that says MRS. GOODMAN and carry flowers in the hand that isn't throwing candy. But then, I can't wave. OK, skip the flowers.
ooo i'll be waiting for that
Okay - so now it's MY turn to say....Has this blog been abandoned?? I'm waiting..... ;)
